Welcome to the dICTatEd quick questionnaire home page

The main emphasis of the dICTatEd research is currently focused around a web-based questionnaire, which explores people's views on:

  • whether or not ICT should be an essential component of education;
  • the rationales that should underpin educational ICT use.

Respondents are presented with 19 rationales that were synthesised from the literature, which they are asked to rate and rank. They also have the option of adding their own rationale(s) and commenting upon their ratings and rankings. Key features of the questionnaire include:

  • it is quick to complete (it takes less than 9 minutes on average)
  • the terminology used alters depending upon the country a respondent identifies themselves as belonging to, in order to try to minimise cross cultural confusion
    (e.g. the word Principal is used instead of Head Teacher for respondents from the USA)
  • respondents can see a 'dynamic' summary of some of the key data once they have completed the questionnaire.
The initial aim is to generate over 20,000 responses to the questionnaire, which can be accessed via http://www.meD8.info/qqa. The key role of dICTatEd supporters and one of the key roles of dICTatEd collaborators is to help publicise the questionnaire in order to increase the number of responses to it.

dICTatEd aims to compare responses to the questionnaire over time. The questionnaire will therefore remain open to respondents indefinitely.

The data collected will be analysed annually and results will be made available via this website (as well as through other channels). You can also explore a 'dynamic analysis' of some of the key aspects of the data as it is submitted via the results section of this site.
